What you need to know, and how to save money, sending parcels to Australia

By 28th May 2016

It's a really long way to travel sending your parcel to Australia; at over 9000 miles from the UK you want to make sure your parcel is in safe hands from collection to delivery. Here at Pharos Parcel we use the world's top courier companies, who deliver millions of parcels every day, to ensure your parcel is delivered safe and sound and quickly. Whether to Sydney or Melbourne, Perth or Brisbane, we will ship your parcel for you at a great price and, with our express service, pretty fast as well.

Recently we shipped a huge rug for a family here in Perth who wanted to send their beloved rug over to family in Australia.

It was so heavy we could hardly lift it!

DHL came up trumps for us and it was safely delivered door to door in 3 working days, the family was so delighted, not only could we deliver to them so quickly but at a great price with the assurance of transit cover and full tracking all the way from door to door.

Nice to think a bit of their childhood memories are still part of the memories they are creating with their family on the other side of the world.

Australian Customs Paperwork

As Australia is not in the EU you will need to fill in customs paperwork and make sure if you have sold an item to someone in Australia that they understand they will be liable for duties and taxes. We will send over the commercial invoice for you fill in and print. 4 copies must be attached to the parcel securely (remember it is travelling over 9,000 miles!).

What can you send to Australia?

Australia has some of the strictest customs in order to try and preserve their wildlife so please do make sure you are not sending something that is prohibited.

This includes:

  • Plants and any plant matter and soil
  • Some leather goods including saddles
  • Any cardboard boxes that have been used to carry vegetables, fruit, or meat in case they contain any harmful organisms. So not a good idea to use a recycled vegetable box for shipping your gifts to Australia!
