What’s the correct way to address a parcel for delivery to Australia?
Thankfully giving our close history with Australia, their address system shares many similarities to ours. So, it’s nice and easy to address your parcel.
One thing to note when addressing your package is that each state in Australia has an abbreviation, such as Queensland which uses the abbreviation QLD. This should be entered on the same line as the town, before the postcode.

What items can I send to Australia?
I’m sure we’ve all heard how strict Australian customs can be. Being an island they have to ensure that their natural habit and wildlife is protected from imported diseases, invasive species and other biological threats.
Because of this, there are strict limitations on what items you can send to Australia. Prohibited items include:
- Any forms of soil
- All plants and plant matter, including dried and preserved flowers
- Anything made from leather
- Any packaging materials used previously in agriculture or the transportation of fruit, vegetables or meat
