What do I need?
We want your parcel to be delivered as soon as possible, so make sure it is properly packaged before collection. Remember, the courier who collects your parcels cannot provide packaging and may refuse to take any items unsuitable for transit. Your parcel will travel down automated sorting systems and can be turned onto its side or upside down. It will be handled on average by seven people all of whom are working under very exacting time constraints to get your parcel delivered on time.
Please note we cannot carry suitcases, luggage or bags.
Your item has to be enclosed in a strong new double walled box suitable for the weight and dimensions of the item. For any item over 30Kg you must contact us first to ensure you understand the packaging requirements for heavier items. Failure to do so will invalidate any insurance you have taken out to cover this shipment.
It is better to send two parcels, than one heavy one, the bigger and heavier the parcel the more risk of damage. If it is too heavy for you to carry the chances are greater it will at some point be dropped during transit.
The drivers are not superheroes but ordinary men collecting lots of parcels every day under very demanding time scales.
· Enclose your item in a Box
Use a new strong double walled corrugated box suitable for the weight and size of the item. If you can, double the box. If you must use a previously used box, make sure all the sides are still rigid and in excellent condition with no punctures, tears, rips or corner damage and that all the flaps are intact. Weight limits printed on the Box Maker's certificate are intended for palletised freight shipments, not for shipments through small parcel carrier environments. Don't assume manufacturer's packaging is enough. Remove any labels or any other shipment markings from the box.
If you feel the packaging isn't adequate..... it probably isn't. Cocoon the box in the thick bubble wrap on the outside as well as inside.
Please do not use a re-cycled box with any hazard signs on it. In today’s troubled times it can cause a major security incident
· Provide Internal Protection
It is vitally important to cushion the contents of your package properly. Make sure you wrap each item separately. Fragile articles need separation from each other and from the corners, sides, top and bottom of the box. Each item must be surrounded by at least 5.08 cm (2 inches) of cushioning and be placed at least 5.08 cm (2 inches) away from the walls of the box. This prevents any of your products being damaged by coming in contact with each other and protects contents from shock and vibration. The contents should not move when you shake the container. There are some great cushioning products on the market now including bubble wrap, inflatable air bags, expanded polystyrene peanuts and engineered foam enclosures. Fragile items such as electronics, glass, ceramics and artwork require special packaging for safe shipment. Packages containing these and similar items may require added cushioning or a double (over) box.
Please read our terms and conditions on Prohibited and Restricted Items. Because we do not have visibility of your items and packaging, we will not be liable for damage or loss if you have sent a prohibited or restricted item, or if the item has not been packed to our guidelines.
If sending a valuable item take a couple of photos of your item securely cushioned inside your box and the box itself before sealing the box and shipping it.
· Close your container Securely
Proper closure of your container is just as important as proper cushioning for the safety and security of your shipment. Please do notuse masking tape, cellophane tape, duct tape, string or paper over wrap. Use strong parcel packing tape, two inches (5.08cm) or more in width. You cannot use enough tape! We seal all the sides, openings, flaps. We then wrap the parcel tape round the box on both sides. Ask yourself if my box were dropped could it spilt open?
· Lastly, you must use the label we provide to you on booking !!!
Once you have made a booking with us, we will provide you with a label for carriage. This label has all the details the carrier requires to deliver your parcel this information is in the barcode along with the tracking number next to the barcode.
If you do not use our label the driver should refuse to take your parcel, but occasionally an accommodating driver will fill in a paper label he has in his van. This then means your parcel will travel with another tracking number which neither you or us can track for you and the carrier will send a very large bill to either you or your recipient demanding payment.
Because of the large amount of parcels we ship each year we have negotiated discounts with our carriers. By using our label you are using our account to access these discounts. If you do not attach our label to the parcel the carrier will charge you or your recipient the full shipping price.
Standard Service 30Kg
Express and Express saver Service up to 70Kg. Please note we will not accept any claims for damage regardless of it you have insured them if you have not contacted us first for any item weighing over 32Kg. Contact us on email@example.com
The maximum we can send without incurring an excess package surcharge is 330cm cubic size.
This is worked out by: (1 x length) + (2 x width) + (2 x depth) of the package.
It will be measured by lasers which are calibrated every morning and the laser will take the maximum dimension. So if your parcel is an odd shape i.e. curved the laser will measure the maximum dimension the object occupies.
If your parcel is measure and found to be over 330cm in total we are automatically charged an excess surcharge of £27 + VAT.
It is a very negative situation when we have to then contact our customer and explain to them we have just paid four times the cost we have charged them to send their parcel, and therefore require payment for the excess charge. We would much rather spend our time servicing our customers than arguing over the dimensions of a parcel which is of an odd shape or has not been packaged in a strong box and has bowed out in transit.
If you have bought something and are paying to have it shipped to you, make sure your seller understands they have to undertake to package and cushion your item correctly and that they have declared the correct weight and dimensions of the packed item accurately.
PLEASE DO CHECK YOU ARE NOT SENDING AN ITEM WHICH IS A PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED ITEM AS NONE OF THESE WILL BE COVERED BY INSURANCE.
